Sunita DeSouza
Sunita DeSouza, a native of Bombay, India, started her musical training at the age of five with the piano, switching to the violin at age twelve. She joined the GVO in 1998 as a violinist when she moved to New York for her post-doctoral training.
She has been playing in orchestras since she was thirteen, starting with the Bombay Chamber Orchestra. During college and graduate school, she played with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, respectively. Sunita thoroughly enjoys playing with the Greenwich Village Orchestra and has served on the Board of Directors as President, Vice-President and currently as Secretary.
Sunita has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and completed her post-doctoral work at NYU Medical Center. She now works at New York University in Greenwich Village in the Office of Compliance & Risk Management.
